Un nuovo inizio per le avventure di Lara Croft, in un reboot che riparte da uno sin dal titolo: Tomb Raider. Crystal Dinamics ha scelto la via del rilancio, ricostruendo da zero l'icona dei videogiochi della fine degli anni '90, per tentare di ridare vita a un brand un po' in affanno.
Lara non è più l'archeologa impavida e scaltra che abbiamo imparato a conoscere in passato, ma una giovane donna con le sue debolezze che dovrà imparare a cavarsela in situazioni limite. Il gioco in sé ha perso molta della componente puzzle/esplorativa dei precedenti capitoli, guadagnandone in termini di strutturazione narrativa, ora molto più pressante, in onore della moda lanciata dalla serie Uncharted, cui si rifà vistosamente.
Non manca una ricca componente multiplayer, inedita per la serie, che vede impegnati i giocatori in diverse attività, tra le quali il classico team deathmatch e una specie di grossa caccia al tesoro.
